Editing topics

The Topic Options dialog doesn't give you much space to work in, and it restricts your options considerably. An important problem is that it's not so easy to change the structure of a topic -- adding or removing subtopics -- when that topic has page references. You have to change each and every page reference. This is very labour intensive.

But simple changes, too, are awkward because of the tiny edit fields in the dialogs and because of the annoying behaviour of the Index panel that collapses all topics when you change one of them.

In this PDF, Guy Burns describes a method I developed for him to process large numbers of topics in his documents.

16 Dec. 2012: In some cases, topics were duplicated. Fixed.
